Last weekend saw Julian try to better the Abbey Dash performance in the hope of better weather, didn’t quite come off but still did a 33.20 at Chester 10k. New athlete Ian ran 37:25 for a pb at Chester also. Peter had a nice jog round the Gower Ultra 28miler in 6:39 trying to help a mate get CCC points.
This week Helen was representing GB for the police at the XC and paced 4th, to help GB win the team prize.
Another 4th place for Luke in testing conditions at the Tour of Pendle this weekend, not bad for a benchmark run with no real prep work!
Another cracking weekend of performances from the Team:
Leeds Abbey Dash
Julian Hood – 32:59 (96th Place) – season goal was sub 33
Scott Boardman – 39:52 (616th) – season goal was sub 40
New York Marathon
Jenny Hopkinson – 3:57:47 (goal sub 4hrs)
Last weekend saw Julian and Jenny both racing at the West Yorkshire Winter League- closed results.
This weekend saw the Barlick contingent racing at the Mid-Lancs cross country; Luke led the group home in 20th place 35:44, I was a ‘few’ places behind (120th place) in 42:42, and Scott threw down the challenge to me on the start line, but then slipped and lost a shoe on lap one resulting in 160th place and 45:15.
A few of the team were out racing this weekend:
Luke Maude was part of the Barlick mixed fell relay squad who had an amazing run to finish 1st beating 15 other mixed teams and finishing 44th overall:
44 – Barnoldswick Mighty Mixed – 5:01:31
Leg 1 – Sarah Tipler – 29:13
Leg 2 – Angela Donlan & Jen Hird – 1:53:25
Leg 3 – Ian Beresford & Andy Berry – 1:54:23
Leg 4 – Luke Maude – 44:30
Julian Hood won the SLJ memorial 10Mile multi-terrain race with a 2min pb on that course despite slippy conditions.
Scott Boardman – The master of the negative split… despite being ill with a cold (who hasn’t been ill these past few weeks!!) managed a 96:56
Langdale horseshoe fell race:
25th place- Luke Maude 2.16.58
Vernon’s 4mile road race
16th Scott Boardman 25:82 ( including a 5K personal best time of 19:20)
Lakes in a Day:
Tim & Tom Couldwell – 15:09:09
Tom Couldwell descending from Blencathra, Lakes in a Day race 2016
Race round up 3rd Oct:
Joe Horne – ticking the UTMB/CCC points box with a 11th place at round Ripon Ultra, 35miles in 5:49:53 (same time as 10th place). Nice warm up for next weekends 50miler 😉
Luke Jezza Maude and Julian Hood teamed up as part of the Ian Hodgson Fell Relays for Barlick Fell Runners, they pulled the team back from 20th to 13th place on leg 2, but the team then slipped back to 20th.
Me! Suffered round the first cross country of the season. Didn’t take my own advice on warm up and remembered how much these short races hurt! Bring on 50miles on Saturday instead!
Good to catch up with Helen Leigh and Christina Singleton who also had a run out at the cross country despite not in structured training at the moment.
Bit more bike action this weekend from the team:
Bianca – Porlock Hill Climb 9th Place
Lee – 3peaks cyclocross in 3:55
Jenny – Hever Castle middle distance triathlon – 2nd WV50
Luke – (no bike) Northern road relays helping the Barlick Fell Runners to 11th place.
This last weekend saw a mix of interesting races the team were competing in:
Luke Maude – performance of the weekend with 4th place (1st Brit’) at the Salomon Ring of Steall sky race in 4:04:27 (29k with 2500m of ascent)
Scott Boardman – 1:35:35 at the English Half marathon with a solid negative split again of 49/46
Helen Leigh – unfortunately struggling with illness but toed the line and suffered round the Salomon Glen Coe Skyline (55k with 4746m of ascent), not the result hoped for but again showed how tough she is to get to the finish line in those conditions and sub-optimal health.
Jenny Hopkinson – newest member of the team was running as part of a team 24hr run at the Equinox24 and managed 7x 10k runs!
Peter Lewis – just returned from 4days running in Chamonix.
