Physio at HP3 …

My philosophy is to treat everybody like a top-flight athlete, whether you are one or not. Through education and coaching the goal is to promote self-efficacy, with supportive manual therapy or other adjuncts, to promote life long health and performance.

Too often our response to injury is like hearing the smoke detector go off and running to pull out the battery. The pain, like the sound, is a warning of some other problem. Icing a sore knee without examining the ankle or hip is like pulling the battery out of the smoke detector. The relief is short-lived.  Together we will work together to deal with the root cause of your problem and prevent you spending your life on the treatment table.

With over 10 years experience, including work for professional teams, Olympic athletes, a Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice and an extensive NHS background prior to private practice, I am able to bring the knowledge and skills you’d expect in top-flight sport to the general public. The key is to get to the root cause of the problem, rather than simply treat the symptoms.

I have helped people turn their lives around from chronic pain and disability and enabling them to partake in sport again, through to injured athletes reaching the start line of the Olympics. What can I help you achieve?

How can you help prevent injuries?

Injury reduction programs are a key component of my practice. By having regular detailed assessments analyzing postures, flexibility, core stability, functional movements, strength and power we are able to identify any potential risk factors before they become an issue for you (or even an injury). Armed with this information we can devise training programs together that will negate any flaws in movement patterns or techniques. This way you stay healthy and are able to keep training and competing without being sidelined with an injury at the crucial times (and the subsequent rehab costs of time and money!).

How long does an appointment last?

Appointments are usually 45minutes, if more time is required we can factor that in. By having a longer appointment time we are able to ensure a specialized in-depth assessment, comprehensive treatment, and education and coaching to provide a high level of care.

Physiotherapy treatments can include:

  • Sports Physiotherapy and rehabilitation
  • Sports Massage
  • Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Massage
  • Acupuncture
  • Biomechanical screening
  • Gait analysis
  • Strength and Conditioning coaching
  • Injury reduction programs
  • Coaching and education

What do I need to bring with me?

For a physio appointment; shorts / sports kit, and any relevant footwear or training aids.

Can I use insurance?

Yes. All clinics are registered with the major
insurance companies.
