Use this exercise to explore your goals further

“Ipsative”

A descriptor in psychology where an individual compares a measure of themselves against previous assessments.

Therefore reflect on your goals you have set yourself and compare with your previous goals / performances, then using this as a mnemonic assess the goals you have set yourself.

  • I = Individual

    Is your goal individualised to you?

  • P = Precise

    Is your goal precise (specific) with a clear target?

  • S = Suitable

    Is your goal suitable for you? Is it realistic?

  • A = Attainable or Aspirational

    Is your goal either attainable (thus certainly achievable) or aspirational (we are looking to push your limits)?

  • T = Trackable

    Have we set timelines for your goals, can we track them in TrainingPeaks?

  • I = Influenceable

    Can you influence the outcome? What are the controllables? Can you control the controllables?

  • V = Value adding

    Does your goal add value to your life and those around you?

  • E = Exciting

    Is the goal exciting? Does it light a fire in your belly that makes you look forward to the training sessions to come? Will it be FUN?
